Created using the same molecular makeup, bioidentical hormones are biologically identical to those produced by your body. They control important bodily functions, such as metabolism, growth, and sexual performance.
Allot one hour for your first appointment. After you complete introductory paperwork, we’ll go over your symptoms and medical history. You’ll step on a scale so we can run a body composition analysis, which establishes a baseline for your care. We’ll also draw blood to assess your hormone levels, blood count, and thyroid function.
Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) resolves hormonal imbalances to help you feel like you again. BHRT may be right for you if you are in your 30s or older and regularly experience any of the following symptoms:

Most patients experience a difference after about a month of treatment.
Some notice a difference as early as two to three weeks. Men sometimes need four to six weeks, or four to five injections, before they feel improvement.
There is no set limit for how long you can take bioidentical hormones. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is a long-term solution, intended to improve your quality of life and general well-being.
Most beYOU patients have been able to do BHRT long-term. Because we monitor your progress and routinely check blood levels, we consult with you personally about the length of treatment that’s right and safe for you.
Regularity of hormone therapy depends on your unique plan of care. Generally, injections are administered every one to two weeks, and pellets are inserted every three to six months. We’ll also check blood levels before placing pellets.
Men typically receive injections weekly and pellets every five to six months. Women usually get injections every one to two weeks and pellets every three to four months. (Female pellets are smaller than male pellets, which is why they don’t last as long.)
Bioidentical hormone replacement is FDA-monitored but not FDA-approved. The FDA released the following statement: FDA is not aware of any credible scientific evidence to support claims made regarding the safety and effectiveness of compounded “BHRT” drugs.
Large-scale studies have still not been conducted to support the safety claims around bioidentical hormones. For that reason, concrete evidence does not prove that bioidentical hormones are safe and effective or safer or more effective than other hormones.
Despite this, we monitor all beYOU patients closely to ensure their safety throughout treatment. Although we cannot make any concrete claims, we have noticed, in our experience, that patients taking bioidentical hormones tend to feel better, need lower dosing, and experience fewer side effects than those taking traditional hormones.
Some worry that hormone therapy of any kind causes cancer, but this is not the case. However, men with a history of prostate cancer and women with a history of hormone-related cancers are at an increased risk for some cancers. We require a physician’s release and recommend that these patients be in remission for two or more years before pursuing BHRT.
Treatment for women who are pregnant or nursing is not permitted.
Although we do not accept insurance, we provide a self-filing form that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
